While studying the lifecycle of a butterfly I thought it would be GREAT fun (and educational) if we were to see the process up close and personal. I ordered the caterpillars from http://www.insectlore.com, and the children LOVED watching them grow and change daily.
They were not excited to let the FIVE butterflies go, but I tried to make it fun for them!
It made it a bit easier when they were able to see how happy the butterflies were to have such a beautiful garden to live in.
Just like the caterpillars -- my students have grown and changed over the past five months. I am not looking forward to telling them goodbye.
